Tall Girl Wardrobe Essentials

There are certain items that everyone needs in their wardrobe. Items that you randomly put together and can guarantee will look good. There is also somewhat of trend at the moment of creating a 'capsule wardrobe' of garments that all work well together and are timeless. Having a capsule wardrobe completely combats the beast that is fast fashion trends that can only be worn and in style for a short period of time. So here are some items I'd say are essential for a tall girl capsule wardrobe.

A good pair of black boots

Last year I bought a pair of black knee-high boots and it was the best investment ever. Having purchased them in September last year, they have been my most worn shoes since. They were great for autumn/winter with tights and skirts and I'm finding them to have a new lease of life in this spring weather as I am able to start wearing them without tights. Timeless and never out of style, a good pair of boots is a great addition to any wardrobe, particularly tall girls as we have the long legs to pull them off particularly well. My boots are from 4th and Reckless and they are available in normal and wide fit.

A classic black mini skirt

Also featured in the image above is my go-to black mini skirt. Great for when you're not sure what to wear, a classic black mini skirt can be paired with blazers, jumpers, statement tops and worn with tights in the colder months. One thing I must say is that I did find it quite a challenge looking for a mini skirt that was long enough. The skirt I'm wearing above is from Shein and I will admit it does feel a tad on the shorter side, however I have since found a much better length mini skirt from Zara. So it definitely takes some trial and error.

A leather jacket

I really feel like you just cant go wrong with a leather jacket. It's such a safe option, just chuck it on and it looks effortlessly put together and brings together any outfit. I have been loving my oversized leather jacket from ASOS in the tall section. I would say with this jacket, is that it is extremely oversized so i had to size down, but the length overall is great for taller girls.

Little red dress

Here I have styled my oversized leather jacket with a classic red mini dress. Now some might say that this isn't really wardrobe essential, however I would care to disagree. A good red dress makes a statement at any event and looks so classy. I dressed mine down with the leather jacket and boots, however paired with heels can be dressed up too.

A tan blazer

Everyone already how much I love my blazers, but I really believe that everyone needs a couple of classic blazers in their wardrobe. I have two blazers that I wear religiously, the one in the image above, a tan/beige colour and also a dark grey/ verging on black blazer. Having a light coloured blazer and a dark one means that either will go with almost anything. Particularly in Spring when the weather is better but you still need a jacket but don't want a coat- a blazer is a great option.

A satin slip dress

Paired with blazers in both of the images above, I find that a satin slip dress is just so classic and always looks good. The one I'm wearing above is from Boohoo and I find that its a really good length, coming down just a little bit longer than the blazer. I t was just in the regular section which I was pleasantly surprised about, so tall girls get yourself to Boohoo.

High waisted jeans

It wouldn't be a capsule wardrobe post if I didn't mention having a good pair of jeans. My favourite pair of jeans that I seem to wear almost daily is the Stradivarius Dad Jeans. Again, they are just from the regular section, which is surprising as they are long on me and I'm 5'8, so they're definitely made with taller girls in mind. You just cant go wrong with a flattering pair of high waisted jeans and if you're wanting a more in depth analysis of the best jeans for tall girls, check out my previous blog post about it.
